Day 8

Lance is going to be taking a class for a graduate degree program starting this summer which starts this week. Unfortunately, his books didn't arrive in North Carolina before we left so he was in contact with our post office and had them forward all of our mail to Casey and Jay's house. So this morning he called the post office in Boulder to be sure it had arrived and to try to catch the package before it was sent on its route. We had planned on leaving first thing in the morning and if we were to wait at the house for the mail, it would have been probably 2 o'clock. Luckily the man Lance spoke too was really nice and held the package for us so we could go pick it up on our way. What a relief. As soon as we found out our mail was there, we quickly loaded our bags in the car, did a quick sweep of the house, and made our way to the post office.

We made our way back to Denver to rendezvous again with George and Renee. George had the oil changed on the motor home in the morning and when we arrived in town, had the oil changed on the yukon as well. We had a quick bite to eat and headed out.

The drive over the mountains was absolutely breath taking. Everything is so lush and green but still has snow capped peaks. Once we were closer to the Utah/Colorado border the mountains started turning into cliffs and canyons and the colors changed from greens to briliant oranges and reds. I went to go look for the camera to take some pictures, but it was nowhere to be found. We were hoping that in the shuffle back into the motor home that we had left it in the yukon by accident.

Not too many towns are along the highway on I-70 once you pass into Utah. Unfortunately we were of course unaware of this fact. We ALMOST ran out of gas. By the grace of God, a gas station appeared. They apparently were aware of the fact that they were the only gas station for miles, and I'm talking, the first gas station in probably 100 miles, because they charged $3.30 a gallon!! They probably could have been charging $5 a gallon and we still would have bought it. We were totally prepared to run out of gas on the side of the highway. From our phones and GPS the next station wasn't supposed to be for another 25 miles. We did have a 6 gallon container of gas in the trailer so we would have been able to get there, but not without the stress of running totally out first.

We finally made it to Moab, Utah but still had nowhere to park for the night. We decided to pull into a random RV campsite but it was a dump and decided why not just find the KOA, so we did!

Once settled, we did some more searching for our camera but of course we had no luck.
